There are definitely moments when there is great joy in learning about an individual artist, designer, collective or craft professional who is charismatically infusing their practice with processes such as knitting, sewing, crochet or embroidery etc., who are skillfully blending craft, design, art, technology and tradition in innovative ways. Mark Rautenbach is one of these people.
Mark is a South African artist utilizing knitting with his unique 'yarn' and using his own brand of craft as activism, Craftivism, to highlight important issues facing South Africa. Mark shared with Knotwe the drive behind his practice and insights into his performance-based interventions with the South African public.
