Craftivism 2014

Kari Lorenson

Busy times for Knotwe! With the announcement of the launch of the Knotwe Magazine (which has had very positive feedback) we are working to make this issue represent a diverse a range of topics and perspectives. We have sent out beacon calls to various communities to contribute, we are interested in hearing from fiber businesses including farmers, organizations and small fiber-based businesses, we are reviewing successful Kickstarter projects to feature, Artist and Designer Profiles, and submissions on technical and educational insights, and the list very happily goes on.

Must Read Book Alert!

Hot off the presses! This book will undoubtedly be a must read in the fiber community. Betsy Greer has just published Craftivism: The Art of Craft and Activism with Arsenal Pulp Press.

I was introduced to Betsy Greer's writing in 2011 with her essay "Craftivist History" in the collection of writings edited by Maria Elena Buszek's titled Extra/ Ordinary: Craft and Contemporary Art an anthology published by Duke University Press

Knotwe will be writing a review for Knotwe readers on Greer's new book and we have reached out to Greer who has been incredibly generous agreeing to an interview exclusive for Knotwe readers!

Among many projects here at Knotwe, we are trying to find time to post a whole library of Fiber must-have-reads to inspire and inform our diverse reader base.

Please check out Betsy Greer's inspiring website craftivism.com and head to the Knotwe Resources Tab to the Books, Products and Equipment Links tab to see other titles mentioned.
